The Nerd Pond  is dedicated to the hobby of aquaponics and related hobbies. Aquaponics is the raising of fish or other aquatic animals in symbiosis with hydroponically grown plants. In very simple terms the fish waste is the fertilizer for the plants and the plants are the filter for the fish. On a larger scale aquaponics may also be referred to as integrated aquaculture or integrated agriculture.
